Since taking out a full licence in 1998 starting with 10 horses the yard has gone from strength to strength in both numbers of horses in training and most importantly numbers in the winner's enclosure. Over the last five seasons Colin has produced 170 odd winner's including a double at the Cheltenham Festival last season from a string of now 60 plus horses and amassing over £1,600,000 in prize money.
Venn Farm Racing Ltd is very much a family run business set in the heart of the beautiful Blackmore Vale countryside, ten miles from Wincanton Racecourse. It also has the advantage of being based alongside our 500 acre dairy farm, creating a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of variation for the horses to enable them to perform to the best of their abilities.
Last season we produced 43 winners with over £800,000 in prize money resulting in us finishing 10th in the Trainers Championship, our prize money almost doubling on the year before due to some high profile winners during the season. Notably Cue Card in the Ryanair Chase and Golden Chieftain in the JLT Chase both storming up the famous Cheltenham hill to give us two Festival winners, also Oiseau De Nuit flying up the long straight at Aintree, Cannington Brook in the Tommy Whittle Chase for the second time and Cue Card again in the Betfair Ascot Chase their richest race of the year. Another highlight was finishing third in the Trainer's Chapionship at the Cheltenham Festival ahead of so many high quality trainers with double the runners there.
